Instructional Design Meme Contest

Calling all Instructional Designers and Instructional Technologists. Or at least all the witty ones! The witty ones who work at a school using Desire2Learn. More specifically, the witty Desire2Learn users who are designers and technologists and are willing to put themselves out there in an effort to have some fun and win valuable prizes (I know – level 2!).

Meme Contest for Instructional Designers

Here in the Desire2Learn Community, we plan to have contests about once a month (we reserve the right to determine on a whim how long a month actually is). To get things started we’re going to feature those people who work in the positions that are most commonly titled as:

  • Instructional Designer
  • Instructional Technologist
  • or something kind of in that ballpark
Why are we starting with you overworked, underpaid, and highly valued people? Because it’s August, and you’re most likely on the job while everyone else is enjoying their time at the lake or on the couch or whatever. So here’s the deal.
Create a meme-ish image to tell us something about what life is like for people who do the kind of work that you do. It can be something about D2L (did you catch the frog reference to the ID Wizard?) or not; that’s your choice. But it does need to be somehow related to the work that you do or the people you work with, or something about online learning or education. I’ve got a crack staff of judges (soon to be) lined up. They’ll pick the top 3 (or so) entries and then we’ll have the community vote to pick the prize winners.
    1. 1st place  = 200 Discovery Points (spendable in the D2L Store)
    2. 2nd Place = 100 Discovery Points
    3. 3rd place = 50 Discovery Points
Deadline for submissions: Sunday, August 19 at 11:59 PM (don’t you always love that one?)
THE CONTEST HAS ENDED!!
Rules for the D2L Community Meme Contest:
    1. Rule #1! Obey all rules!! (credit: Barney Fife, 1963)
    2. Secondly, you can use the Meme Generator site if you want, or Cheezburger, or QuickMeme, free-style it, or find a different meme site.
    3. Thirdly, there are only two rules. Actually, that second rule is more of a suggestion, so I guess there’s only one rule.
When you are happy with your image, submit the URL using the form at the bottom of this page.

Here’s an example of an image created by @ajwms that would be a contender for a more generic e-Learning meme contest.

Duck meme about online classes

Now go out there and be somebody! That is all.

Top 5 finalists coming soon. We’ll be asking the community to vote for the winners.
