It’s 6am. I’ve got my cup of coffee in my home office which has a beautiful view of Pikes Peak. It’s time to check the courses I teach and reply to any email that came in overnight. The problem is, in order to accomplish this task in the next 15 minutes before my 3 kids wake up, I have to be smart about how I do it and every click counts.
The problem is, when I first started with D2L, I just clicked on the Email link. It brought up the Email page where I clicked on the link and opened the email. Then, I would have to click on My Home, find the My Courses widget, get into the course, investigate what the student was referring to and then go back to the Email, reopen it and reply. UGH. There’s no way that will work this morning.
So, here’s what I do now. First, I login to the MyHome page. Then, I’m right clicking on the Email link and “Open in a new tab” (exact language varies by browser).
Now, I’ve got two tabs open; one for Email and one for My Home. I can then look at the email and go back to the other tab to reference the course. In fact, I often will open each of my sections in their own tabs. That way, I can jump between sections as easily as a click at the top of the page.
Now if I could only get the kids ready for school as quickly…
